Beef Farmers of Ontario came out to the Ontario beef research station to see the new facilities and hear what is currently being worked on by University of Guelph researchers.
Approximately 65 members of BFO, including board memebers, heard from 15 graduate students/ researchers about their research projects. Four graduate students presented their work during the tour and the other research posters and students displayed their work in the Precision Feed Facility at the end of the tour.

M.Sc. Candidate Sarah Dean showed her ongoing project with Dr. Marcio Duarte on vitamin A
Tysson Amidon, the research center's technical foreman, explained some of the nearby equipment and how it supports the research being done. M.Sc. candidate Katie Kroeze explained her upcoming project with Dr. Katie Wood on beef heifer methane emissions.
PhD candidate Shannon Beard shared her work with Dr. Bonnie Mallard on using high immune response genomics to improve beef cattle health and welfare.
Dr. Katie Wood, Remo Pallottini (Research Facilities Management Director), Tysson Amidon (OBRC Technical Foreman), and Joe Parkinson (OBRC Manager) highlighed some of the world-class research facilities and the partnerships that helped to build them.
Farmers got a chance to chat with graduate students and researchers over some refreshments in the Precision Feed Facility.
