Redesign of a commercial crossbred beef genetic evaluation system
What is this project about?
My project is an industry collaborative project with AgSights, which produces an on-farm data collection and GES. The purpose of my study is to update AgSights pre-existing GES to become flexible and computationally efficient in its ability to incorporate and evaluate novel and high-throughput phenotype and genotype data from beef cattle. The final product of my study will be incorporated into AgSights commercial product and sold to farmers across Canada and worldwide. As data becomes more readily recorded, the techniques used to analyze this influx of measurements need to be adapted for the farmers to uncover the currently hidden value of genetic selection.
